About Me![]() My name is Lia and I'm the creater, owner, maintainer, and sole employee at OmgLia.com. I make everything you see on the site entirely by hand and I run the business completely on my own from my dorm room. I'm 20 years old, live in Louisville, Kentucky, and a junior at Indiana University where I major in Apparel Merchandising with a Fashion Degree Certificate and minor in Business. I'm a feminist and environmentally/socially concious and I try to incorporate these mentalities into my work. I prefer to recycle everything -- much of my jewelry is made from recycled jewelry. I also refuse to use items of harm such as gun charms or cigarette charms in my jewelry, and I try to never buy supplies from sweatshop laborer-produced markets or otherwise sketchy stores (so no to Wal Mart, yes to local and handmade!) I've been crafting for as long as I can remember and selling my crafts since I was 5 - I used to hawk brightly colored handmade bracelets to my parent's friends for $1 each! I spent most of my grade school years expiramenting with various crafts: I enjoy knitting, sewing, soapmaking, drawing, and papercrafts. It was't until I was 16 years old and finally got my ears pierced that I discovered I liked to make jewelry as well. In the proccess of converting all of my clipon earrings to pierced ones, I upgraded each of them and added on some beads and charms until I had brand new jewelry. The first pieces of jewelry I sold (at http://etsy.com in 2006) were reconstructed from my personal jewelry collection, including my clipon earrings and all of my necklaces! I love making bright colorful plastic jewelry and was happily surprised to find that women and men of all ages buy and wear my jewelry! I consider craft-making an art to be honed skillfully and look forward to learning more and expanding my website and crafting knowledge. Even my hair is half pink! |
